Heat Management
Cactus 100 Frontyard Ultra takes place in the Australian Outback where the average January high temp is 38 degrees celsius (100f).
Heat management will play an important role in keeping runners safe and healthy. The event will have ice and water available around the course and we encourage you to take advantage of this at every opportunity. The event is conducted from 6pm-9am to help mitigate the effects of the heat.
Birdsville Accommodation and Travel
Birdsville is a small town in the Australian Outback - population 100. We strongly recommend organising accommodation as early as possible to ensure you are able to secure an air-conditioned room. The event starts and finishes within Birdsville and there is no need to have a vehicle to access any part of town or the course.
Birdsville can be accessed by road from all directions, with the access road from the north (Bedourie, Boulia and Mount Isa) almost completely sealed with bitumen, with just a small 15km section of gravel road.
Alternatively flights can be booked via Regional Express (Rex).
They fly from Brisbane on a Thursday (flight #5662) and return to Brisbane on a Tuesday (#5661). They also fly from Mount Isa on a Friday (#5661) and return to Mount Isa on a Monday (#5662).
