My Story

I am running in support of my nephew Noah Scott. Noah is 15 months old now and he is growing like a bean stalk. The little dude is already tougher than I will ever be. My brother Ben and his wife Kasey were given the news, during pregnancy, that Noah would be born with CHARGE syndrome, and have one of the most severe cases of it that one can possibly have. It seemed that everyone had to tell us how difficult his life was going to be months before he was born. What they didn't tell us was how much joy he would bring us with his smiles and giggles, and how resilient little boys can be.  Noah is showing us that all by himself. Noah was born with a massive set of eyes that were tracking his dad anywhere he moved around the hospital, contrary to the vision impairments the doctors were predicting. He came out screaming with a set of lungs that he is only getting better and better at using, currently around 3am, mixed with his expertise motorboat impersonations. He has been fitted for hearing aids on both ears, and loves to be read books, BUT only if he gets to flip the pages.

This fundraiser is dear to us because of the fantastic work that Campfire Circle does in Muskoka to allow for kids like Noah, that require complex medical care, to be immersed in God's nature and beautiful creation. Something we are inherently drawn to and that brings us closer to our Creator.

Description

Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences.

When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.

With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs.

Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal.
