My Story…
I'm riding in the Bluewater International Gran Fondo for the third year, and this time I am raising the challenge and cycling 100km!
I love the Gran Fondo because it is an opportunity for me to stay active, connect to my mom through cycling, and support some wonderful organizations in Sarnia-Lambton.
Mom loved biking along the lake and participated in the Gran Fondo when it was held virtually in 2021. There is no doubt we would be biking together this summer if she was here. (Although I know if I asked her to cycle 100km with me she would laugh and say ‘No way!’).
Participating in this event is also a way for me to say thank you to St. Joseph's Hospice and Palliative Care at Bluewater Health. Although her time in palliative care at Bluewater Health was short, Mom received excellent care there. After her passing, I was grateful to access grief support services and counselling from St. Joseph's Hospice. These services were an essential support for me when I needed them most. I am so thankful they are available in our community.
My goal this year is to raise $2500. I would be honoured if you would consider supporting my ride and the invaluable work of St. Joseph's Hospice and Bluewater Health Palliative Care.
Since I'm raising the challenge for myself and riding 100km this year, I challenge you to bump up your support if you are able.
Thank you for supporting my ride!
