Raise money for Dyslexia Canada

Dyslexia Canada is Canada’s only nationwide bilingual charity focused on ensuring there is a national voice and forum to advocate for all Canadian children with dyslexia. Dyslexia Canada is committed to ensuring that every child in Canada with dyslexia gets a fair and equitable education.

Dyslexia Canada is a national charity dedicated to ensuring all children in Canada with dyslexia have access to a fair and equitable education.

What Dyslexia Canada advocates for:

  • Recognition and awareness of dyslexia
  • Change to the public education system to make the following available:
    • Effective classroom reading instruction for all children
    • Universal early-screening to identify risk of dyslexia
    • Evidence-based reading intervention for children who need it
    • Teacher training standards to ensure all teachers are empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and support students with dyslexia and to teach every child to read.
  • Resources and support for children and families

Current statistics estimate that somewhere between 10-20% of the population has dyslexia. This amounts to 750,000+ students in Canadian public schools or 2-4 children in every classroom with dyslexia.

As a direct result of our advocacy the Ontario Human Rights Commission launched the Right to Read Public Inquiry in 2019 resulting in the 2022 Right to Reach report. As we acknowledge the second anniversary of the findings of the report we celebrate the positive changes that we have seen in Ontario including the new language curriculum and implementation of universal screening tools beginning in September 2024.

As a growing charity, we need your support so that we can continue to advocate for all children in Canada with dyslexia so they might achieve greater literacy and personal accomplishments. Your donation is greatly appreciated and we encourage you to also join in our 7th annual Mark it Read campaign to bring awareness to dyslexia in your community.
