My Story…
Growing up, I was lucky enough to have two moms. My dad met Tracy when I was four years old, and my life has never been the same since. I was confused with the whole divorced parent thing, so I used to call her "my fairy godmother." We quickly became best friends and called ourselves "the Gilmore Girls." When I was nine years old, Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She stayed strong and fought it until it came back and metastasized a couple of years later. March 22nd would be Tracy's 54th birthday, and I am sad to say that this is her third birthday without her.
Tracy was the most positive person I have ever met. She never complained and lived every day to the fullest with me and my dad. She taught me a lot about dealing with hard things and only worrying about the things I could control.
When Tracy passed away in 2021, I fell in love with running. Running was a sport I could control; every time I ran, I felt like I could breathe again and take some control. Every run, I run for Tracy.
I have been trying to run a marathon for a year. Last year, I got injured and had to take a break from long distances. This year, I am feeling better than ever and am training for not one, but two marathons. My second marathon this year is the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 20th. I will run for Tracy Sheridan. I am asking for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Canadian Cancer Society is trying to limit the number of people who are affected by cancer and allow us to take some control. Thank you in advance for donating!
