Another year—another marathon—another fundraiser.

In 2022, you helped me raise $5,694 for the BC Cancer Foundation. In 2023, we collectively raised $5,499 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Today, I humbly ask for your generosity once more.

2 in 5 Canadians are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime; 1 in 4 Canadians die of the disease. Cancer affects us all. This is the tragic truth that my family, like too many others, had to confront when my father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2020. Since then, my father has undergone intensive treatment, had his cancer declared to be in remission, and been able to enjoy a mostly normal life—up until recently. Unfortunately, the cancer recurred earlier this year, and the prognosis is gloomy.

Despite this lamentable turn of events, my dad has remained hopeful, and so have I. That's why I'm running the 2024 Toronto Waterfront Marathon in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. The Canadian Cancer Society is Canada's largest national charitable funder of research into 100+ types of cancer. They also engage in public education to reduce cancer rates; government advocacy to shape health policy and save lives; and support services to make life easier for cancer patients and their loved ones. I am proud to support this cause, and I hope you will consider doing so too.

That's why I'm matching all donations made to this fundraiser by October 31, 2024, up to a cumulative maximum of $4,500 CAD. Amidst the rising cost of living, I am all the more grateful for your contribution of any amount; no amount is too small or too big.
