My Story…

My name is Tsige Tekle. I was born in Eritrea. I got married in Ethiopia and had three children. In 1998 we returned to Eritrea because of the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

In 2021 my husband passed away from COVID-19 in exile. After the war, we returned to Ethiopia because of the religious persecution in Eritrea. Then, I went to Uganda to get an asylum paper.

I arrived in Canada as a permanent resident this summer sponsored by the Holy Trinity Refugee Committee.

And now with their help, I am reunited with my son and daughter and have finally met my two Canadian grandchildren.
