My Story…
On the August long weekend a community member found a mom and five very sick kittens in his yard. The kittens eyes were completely crusted shut with puss, when I arrived on site I was able to pick up the kittens by hand because they couldn’t see me.
Annex quickly took these babies into their care and got them to a vet. Sadly, one kitten passed away before we could see the vet - at 6 weeks of age she weighed about a quarter of what she should have weighed. Her tiniest sister, Pinot, was about a third of what she should weigh and one of her eyes had ruptured. The fight was on to save the rest of the kittens and their sight.
Two kinds of antibiotic eye drops were prescribed to be given multiple times a day plus oral antibiotics. The kittens hadn’t yet transitioned to solid food and needed to be bottle fed through the night. There were many vet visits.
Today these beautiful kittens are happy, healthy, playful balls of energy and spoon is almost as big as her sister. Pinot is going to need an enucleation of her one eye, but her other eye and the eyes of her siblings are clean, bright and infection free. They will be ready for adoption soon.
These kittens would have died without immediate help. I’m walking for my Wine Kittens, Gamay, Pinot, Riesling, and Muscat.
