Our story…
Humber Valley United church is trying to become a community where justice, compassion and belonging are what is most important to us. We are proud to support refugee families. Our aim is to be extended family for people who need a bit of support and love as they transition to life in Canada. We will use this money to support dozens of asylum seekers that are stuck in overcrowded shelters often feeling hopeless and confused. The money will pay for things like education, rent and groceries. We are all volunteers so ALL of the money goes directly to the asylum seekers. We have recently supported two women and their baby find an apartment and get settled, find work and navigate the health care system.
This year we are doing a virtual walk from Humber Valley United Church to a church which is housing dozens of alyssum seekers in north Etobicoke.
