Our story…
Rivers of Hope is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization that was founded in 1989 by a group of Elk River citizens concerned with the problems of domestic violence in their community. In 1991 the founders added a youth program and by the mid-1990’s Rivers of Hope had expanded and was serving all of Sherburne and Wright Counties. Today office space is centrally located in Monticello and Rivers of Hope maintains a strong, anti-violence presence in our community.
Over the past 35 years, Rivers of Hope has offered free advocacy services to any adult or youth in our community experiencing domestic violence. Services for adults include assistance with filing Orders for Protection and Harassment Restraining Orders, safety planning, court accompaniment, and a weekly, virtual support group for female identifying survivors. Services for youth include 1:1 school-based advocacy covering topics such as safety, healthy relationships, boundaries, self-care, and more.
