My Story…
On Black Friday, November 25th, 2022, I faced a surreal situation resembling a science fiction tale. A parallel universe version of myself, was receiving devastating health news: Stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the bowel with metastases to the liver and lungs, and a prognosis of 4 to 6 months without treatment. Over the next few months, I underwent IVs, bloodwork, a liver biopsy, portacath insertion, and 22 rounds of chemotherapy to date with more to come. The journey has been challenging, but the overwhelming love and support from family, friends, and colleagues has been remarkable. Through this ordeal, I've found deeper happiness and learned invaluable lessons about adversity and hope. Initially I was told my disease burden precluded surgery and curative therapies; however, a recent reach out to the Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) has given me further hope for potential treatments. Please join me in the BUM RUN as I invite you to join my running team "Dar's Derrieres".
