Thanks for joining us for the second annual "Not Just For Runners” (NJ4R)! NJ4R is a community event for all ages, abilities and backgrounds, created to bolster physical and mental health in marginalized communities. The event will include a 5K and 1-mile walk and run, followed by a health and wellness fair. This event will be held rain or shine.
We know you've been checking the weather and questioning whether the event is still on...we're here to tell you "YES!" and we can't wait to see you.
We prioritize the safety and enjoyment of our participants. Please dress in layers and come ready to join the fun. All of our community class instructors are prepared to host you, and all health fair booths will have pop-up tents. In addition, our Fitness Zone for the community classes will be outfitted with several 13x13 tents.

ATTIRE/CLOTHING: Dress in layers and wear comfortable clothes you can move in and supportive shoes for walking. This is an interactive event and we want you to join in the movement.
CUPLESS EVENT: Hydrapak is our “Cupless Event Partner” and all registered participants will receive a free Hydrapak reusable cup. Since we are having a cupless 5K/1-mile event, bring your favorite water bottle for the day, or use your free Hydrapak reusable cup (all participants get one in their swag bag) to fill up at the aid station and stay hydrated.
PARKING: Parking is available in the main parking lot at the part; there are approximately 75 spots available. Additional parking is available on the streets and in the neighborhood.
RACE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PROGRAM START: Announcements will start around 8:00-8:15am, with our official kickoff to start at 8:30am. We'll have opening remarks by from our hosts and special guests, followed by a fun, lively, low impact group warmup.
5K & 1-MILE EVENT: The 5K/1-mile will be held on the Sacramento River Parkway, which is a paved, two-lane bike and pedestrian pathway. There is a slight incline as we walk up the boat ramp to the top of the levee, but otherwise, the route is level and unobstructed. Anyone who feels they need assistance up the walkway can let our volunteers know and they will be happy to escort you. We will have volunteers on the course providing support until our last finishers comes through. There is an aid station with water, electrolytes and fuel at the 5K turnaround point, and cones and signs will mark where to make the u-turn for both distances.
COMMUNITY CLASS SCHEDULE:
Be ready to move and learn as we offer *FREE* fitness classes and learning sessions throughout the day. These sessions are for all abilities; participants must sign a waiver to participate. *Schedule times and offerings are subject to change.*
**Classes and start times are subject to change.**
FOOR AND VENDORS: We have the honor of having Chef Yaku Moton-Spruill as the official cook for NJ4R. Our menu will include: BBQ pulled chicken burrito bowls marinated chili lime tofu burrito bowl, toppings to include rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa, onions, cilantro and avocado (extra cost), bottled water, watermelon Fresca and Oatchata. We’ll also have the I SCREAM Yogurt truck onsite offering delicious treats. You don’t want to miss out on what our chef, dessert truck and vendors are offering so bring your $$$, credit card, Venmo, CashApp or Applepay so you can get your grub on and #supportsmallbusiness.
CONSTRUCTION ADVISEMENT: There is currently construction at the park, however it will not interfere with our event. The boat launch parking lot has been fenced off as a construction zone, however a pedestrian walkway leading from the park to the top of the levee, via the boat ramp has been accommodated for us. Respresentatives from the City, County and US Army Corp of Engineers have been notified about the event, and have worked hard to ensure the safety of our event and its participants.
ONE FINAL PARTICIPANT EMAIL WAS SENT ON 5/3/2024; CHECK YOUR JUNK/SPAM FOLDER IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT.
May the 4th be with us!
