Where and when is package pick-up?
Package Pick-up will take place at Run Calgary Headquarters (Unit 17 - 1515 Highfield Crescent SE) during the following times:
- Friday Aug 30 - 10:00am - 4:00pm (overlaps with Love is Love Package Pick-up)
- Thursday Sept 5 - 4:00pm - 8:00pm
- Friday Sept 6 - 10:00am - 4:00pm
**Please note that these times are subject to change. Dates and times will be confirmed by email to all registered participants one week prior to the event date. **
*No Race Day pickup* If you're unable to make the package pickup times, and you have no one to pick up your package for you, please contact Maureen at info@runcalgary.com to make alternative arrangements.
Can I pick up for someone else?
You can send someone else to pick up your package. Please ensure they have your confirmation number with them. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan on picking up for 3 or more people.
Can I pick up on Race Day?

Can I get a refund if I can’t participate on race day?
- All registration fees are non-refundable. No refunds, transfers, medical comps or deferrals under any circumstances.
- Selling your race bib, or having another person use your bib in the event is strictly prohibited. This act may seem well intentioned but has many negative implications to the organizers and participants including liability, timing, results, awards and many other factors. If a registrant sells or gives away their race bib to another participant, they will not be allowed to participate in future events.
- Protect your purchase by enrolling in the Race Roster Enhanced Refund Protection Program. Participants that enroll in the refund program will be refunded if they are unable to attend due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, such as injury & illness, COVID-19, severe weather, work travel conflict, layoffs/termination or mechanical breakdown. Can I participate virtually in this event?
There is no virtual component for this event.
Is this a family friendly event?
No minors allowed in the race or VIP area for runners. Because alcohol is involved with this event, it is for adults only (18+) event. Everyone must bring government-issued ID to receive a wristband that gives you access to the Runner's VIP Area after the race. The concert however is all ages and you can register kids under 18 for a FREE concert ticket and they can enjoy it on the main lawn outside of the Runner's VIP Area.

Where is the Event?
All event activities and race start/finish will take place in Prince's Island Park.
Where can I park?
There is no parking on Prince's Island Park. We recommend taking public transit, walking or biking. The 8 St SW C-Train Station is the closest station and is about a 15 minute walk to the start line. Street parking in Eau Claire is free on Sunday's and there are a number of ImPark lots close to the venue. Bike racks will be available on Prince's Island Park and can be found on the site map.
When does the race start?
Both the 4 km walk/run and the 8 km run start at 2:00pm on Prince's Island Park.
What time should I arrive at the event on race day?
Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early in order to give yourself time to find parking, check your bags (if required), and get to the start line.

Will there be porta potties at the event site?
Yes, porta potties will be available close to the start line on event day.
Do I need to wear my bib when I walk/run?
Yes, your bib must be visible from the front while on course at all times. Course Marshals are instructed to remove anyone without a bib on course.
Where will I be running?
The course will take you through the beautiful pathway system along the Bow River in downtown Calgary. This event consists of one 4 km loop for the 4 km participants, while the 8 km participants will do two loops.
What are the amenities on course?
There will be Nuun and water at one aid station on course (approximately halfway), as well as water and Nuun available at the finish line.
Can I wear headphones while I run?
Calgary Phil will be playing Beethoven’s symphony for 50 minutes while you walk/run, so we highly recommend that you forego your headphones for this event. We also discourage the use of headphones for the safety of the runner and the safety of those around them. If you choose to wear headphones, please leave one out or keep the music low enough to be able to hear directions from course marshals, courtesy calls from other participants and horns or other noises to alert you of risk. If a runner puts themselves or others at risk through an unsafe act that the Board of Directors determine was caused directly or indirectly through the use of the items in question, the race directors reserve the right to disqualify the runner.
Can I run with a stroller?
Please - NO STROLLERS for this event. The route takes place on downtown pathways and strollers create safety issues. This event is also 18+ (ADULTS ONLY) and no kids under the age of 18 will be permitted.
Can I run with a dog?
We love four legged friends, but dogs are not allowed on course for Beat Beethoven. Looking for a dog friendly event? Why not register for the Dash of Doom, Calgary’s only evening Halloween event on October 26th. Please contact us at info@runcalgary.com if you have a special need.
What happens at the finish line?
When you cross the finish line you will receive your medal and water/nuun hydration.
You can then make your way to the closed off Runner's VIP Area where you will receive your requested meal (vegetarian or meat), followed by your souvenir wine glass and wine.
Enjoy your glass of wine or sparkling water and food while the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra performs a 50 minute set of music from their upcoming season.
Free massages will also be available, provided by Movement Sports Clinic.
Can my family/friends come to watch the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra concert?
YES! New in 2024 Family and friends are welcome to come and watch from outside the Runner's VIP Area, due to ALCB regulations, they can not be given any alcoholic beverages to consume. Only registered runners are allowed into the closed off VIP area and they must be 18 years and older.
Is there prizing for this event?
There will be prizing for the top 3 solo finishers in each gender category for both the 8 km race and 4 km race. You can also win prizes for fundraising. When you fundraise a minimum amount for any charity supported by a Run Calgary event you are eligible to win prizing. Fundraise to any of the levels listed and be entered to win at every level you achieve ($50, $100). There will also be a fundraising prize awarded to the top 3 individual fundraisers. Fundraising winners will be announced the week following the event date.
Where do the funds raised go?
- All donations go to PhilKids. PhilKids is designed to fuel and support the empowerment of children through the exploration of music. It offers elementary students the opportunity to learn directly from musicians of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation.
Do I have to buy a ticket for just the performance?
- No, the concert is free but requires registration for a free ticket.
How long is the performance?
- The event is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 30-minute intermission. The first part of the performance will kick off at the start of the Beat Beethoven race—the orchestra will perform Beethoven’s music for 50 minutes. When the runners return, after a short break, the Orchestra will perform a variety of music.
Is the event open to children?
- The concert is family-friendly and open to all ages. The Beat Beethoven race is 18+.
What should I bring with me if I am not participating in the run portion?
- Bring a blanket to sit on. If you bring a chair, make sure it is a low festival-style chair so you don’t block the view for people behind you. Bring a picnic and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is not permitted on site. Please no dogs!
