Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
It's almost registration day! This is the last update before the race (unless something urgent comes up). Just a quick one.
If you missed the last updates, you can find them here in the side menu: https://raceroster.com/events/2024/81017/the-divide-200.
Our Facebook group is also a great place to ask questions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedivide200.
GARMIN EXPLORE + LIVE TRACKING
I mentioned in the last email that you could download Garmin Explore and use it to sync your device. I should have been more clear:
- The live tracking we use will work as long as the inReach is turned on - you do not have to sync a phone with the inReach to do that
- IF YOU want to MESSAGE via the inReach, you must have the Explore app (or Messenger, but Explore does more)
- If you want to SEE YOUR LOCATION ON THE MAP using your phone, you need to have some kind of navigation app, like Explore or Gaia
- You are welcome to use any nav app you like, but if you want to sync with
I have created page with a link to download the course, and the helpful instructional video with details on how to sync your device with the inReach: https://www.sinistersports.ca/divide200/course_download. If you put it on your phone now, you will be ready to roll when you get your inReach.
CHARGING + RELIABILITY
As with any tech, the reliability of the inReach units we're loaning you depend a lot on how you treat them.
- Turn your inReach on and make sure it is charged - also charge your device overnight
- Don't forget it in the morning - I cannot tell you how many people forget their timing chips and other gear on race morning
- Our units are set to 30-minute track points; if you lower that, it will decrease the battery life
- The more you fiddle with it, including sending messages, the more battery it uses
Bring your own USB-C cord if you have one... For some reason, a whole bunch of ours are missing and we don't get next-day shipping to our town!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers add so much to the race, and it takes a lot of people to make CDR happen. Volun-tell everyone you know to sign up! We reward them all with great swag and fun times. This year, volunteers are getting a race neck gaiter (AKA "Buff" but it is not a Buff brand so I can't say that), a Fenix mini flashlight, and a cool little travel cutlery kit that our crew loves.

That's it! We will see you tomorrow. Sleep tight.
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
