My Story…
Say Her Name
This run is dedicated to my mom who lost her battle to breast cancer in Spring 2024.
It took 8 months and 4 misdiagnosis for my mom's GP to send her for an xray on her lungs to diagnose her metastases. Once she was diagnosed, she only recieved three months of treatment before going into hospice care.
Mom was failed by our Provincial Healthcare system and I will continue to tell her story until we see change in our system - change that will prioritize Healthcare for all British Columbians.
Her name was Stephaney Van Acken and she deserved more.
Funds raised go directly to the BC Cancer Foundation.
