Our story…
Say Her Name
This run is dedicated to Stephaney Van Acken who lost her battle with breast cancer in spring 2024.
It took 8 months and 4 misdiagnosis for her GP to send her for imaging to diagnose her metastases. She was failed by her healthcare provider and by the wait times in our Provincial Health System.
We will be sharing her story and raising funds for the BC Cancer Foundation. We need change in our system for better health care - the cancer crisis is real.
Her name was Stephaney Van Acken and she deserved more.
