Black Spur Ultra Update
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
We are just a little less than four weeks before the 9th annual Black Spur Ultra! Stop dunking that donut and cram in some KM while you can.
Take a moment to read the Racer Info Package, and that should answer any of your outstanding questions.

If you missed the last racer update, you can find it here.
KAR WAIVER
Kimberley Alpine Resort has a separate waiver that everyone needs to fill out online. No waiver = no race! Make sure to use the email address that you gave us when you signed up, or our list and their list won't sync up.
Adult competitors: https://passes.skircr.com/event
Parental Release Agreement (for competitors 15yrs and younger): https://passes.skircr.com/parental
Don't make me chase you for this! ;)
SINISTER TRIPLE INTERIM RESULTS
Here are the current results for the Sinister Triple, for those who completed Sinister 7 and Death Race, and are registered in Black Spur Ultra.
If you think you should be on the list and do not see your name, contact us right away. The results are compiled based on matching email addresses, so if anyone registered with a different account, they may have been missed.

If you have questions about the Triple, take a look at the details and rules here. One common misunderstanding is what happens if you DNF. You are still eligible for the Triple, as long as you start the race.

FAQS
BSU is super simple - one central area, one finish area, all the fun. Here are the things people ask about:
- Soloists can leave drop bags at the main tent on Saturday morning before the race - you really only need a drop bag if you do not have a crew
- We have a limited number of pre- and post-race meals available for sale, if you need them for family and friends
- Your meal ticket is on your bib - because the caterers need to know how many meals they should prepare for both Saturday and Sunday, we are not able to switch your meal times, but you are welcome to attend the Triple awards on Sunday morning without eating
- The Triple awards are on Sunday morning, after the regular awards
- Polls... this is really a personal choice, and they can both help or hinder - they are useful on Leg 1/4 but you may want to stow them for the really brushy sections
- The race is rain or shine
- Friends can check in for you – if you already signed a waiver online, you can get a friend to pick up your race kit and check you in – if you did not sign a waiver online, you will need to get them to bring one signed by you
- Racers can only receive help from their support crew at the main transition area
- We will have water, Sun River Honey gels, Tailwind, and a variety of snacks at each CP – at the main staging area, we will have more fresh foods, as well as hot food after about 4pm
CAMPING + SHOWERS + WASHROOMS, OH MY!
If you didn't snag a hotel room at Trickle Creek Lodge, Kimberley Alpine Resort is offering limited dry camping for tents in the parking area southeast of Trickle Creek lodge. For RVs, please park in the south parking lot away from the train tracks.
Showers will be open in the Conference Centre on Friday 10am–10pm, Saturday 6am–10pm, and Sunday 6am–11am.
Washrooms will be open in the Slopeside Café starting Saturday morning and open all weekend. No porta-potties for you beautiful people!
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteers add so much to the race, and it takes a lot of people to make CDR happen. Volun-tell everyone you know to sign up! We reward them all with great swag and fun times. This year, volunteers are getting a race neck gaiter (AKA "Buff" but it is not a Buff brand so I can't say that), a Fenix mini flashlight, and a cool little travel cutlery kit that our crew loves.

CONDITIONS + FIRE UPDATE
You can see my long note in the previous racer update. Everything is looking good (not perfect, just good) with regard to smoke and fire conditions. We keep watching the different AQHI websites. Luckily, the Kootenay region is also getting a lot of rain right now, so we're feeling positive.
See you soon. Train hard and have fun out there.
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
