The Cape Chignecto Provincial Park is known for its beauty as well as its challenging vertical gain and single track technical trails. Our event gives the runners the most vertical gain of any event in the Maritimes! People who experience Cape Chignecto Park will lovingly refer to it as Chiggy.

2024 Chiggy Ultra Events:
To the Arch and Back - This is a hilly and technical shorter distance heading towards the Arch Gulch Cabin, check in and return. Approx 15 kilometers. You will spend parts of this route along the coast and experience a few larger hills. If you are new to Trail running, wish to do a shorter distance or achieve a PB, this might be the option for you.
Start time Saturday Oct 5th at 7 AM for Arch and Back
To the Bunkhouse and Back - While nowhere in Chiggy is flat, this offers the most runnable sections for a larger distance, without reaching a full loop. Runners will head to the Bunkhouse, check in and head back. This route is referred to as 'The Interior' as you will be inland the majority of the distance. Approx 30 kilometers.
Start time Saturday Oct 5th at 7 AM for the Bunk and Back
One Loop - As in years past, it starts out including McGahey Canyon trail, then heading counter clockwise around Cape Chignecto. This will get you approx 2200 meters of Vertical Gain and just over 51 kilometers. On this run you will hit 3 Aid Stations, and probably a lot of mud. It's mostly single track technical trail. Are you ready for an adventure?
Start time Saturday Oct 5th at 7 AM for One Loop
Two Loops - Finish one loop and are you prepared to complete what not many have, a second loop. One has some serious bragging rights. Two, twice as many. You will hopefully have a lot of Vert training in the bank. As you head out, those watching you leave will think "Wow, that person must eat galvanized nails for breakfast everyday." The bright side, you'll spend good chunks of your 2nd loop with a lot of others on the trail.
Start time Saturday Oct 5th at 12 AM MIDNIGHT!!!!!!! for Two Loops
Three Loops - This is arguably the toughest accomplishment in the Maritime Provinces. What makes us so sure? Only ONE person has completed this loop 3 times at our race. If you sign up for this, you are an animal. You might get to experience not one, but two sunrises at Beautiful Cape Chignecto Park. But seriously, this is no joke. The distance might fall just short of 100 Miles, but the difficulty is NOT short of a 100 miler. You are a beast, just DO it. DO IT!
You WILL get a finishing Prize.
OH IF you want to complete an official 100 miler, we can EASILY add an extra small section to achieve that.
Start time Saturday Oct 5th at 12 AM MIDNIGHT!!!!!!! for Three Loops
Cut Offs: All Aid Stations will be closed by 12 pm on Sunday afternoon.
Sign up today! Space is limited.
In order for the event to be a success we will need volunteers.
If you are available to volunteer, we have a few options.
Cabins: We need 4 volunteers at each cabin who would be there Friday early evening until Sunday at Noon. Beyond helping runners during the event, you will need to stay awake in teams of 2 from Friday evening until Sunday. Each volunteer will be provided with a 'Care Package' as a thank you for participating.

To the Arch and Back Closed
This event will start at the Gate, follow the McGahey Canyon Trail and head towards Arch Gulch Cabin. After checking in with the Aid Station, you will turn back and head towards the Park exit. On exiting you will NOT take the McGahey Canyon trail but straight out like all other runners. This is the shortest distance and is fantastic for those wanting a taste of the park, but not wanting to do a full loop.

To the Bunk and Back Closed
This event will begin like all other distances, turning onto McGahey Canyon Trail, then turning towards Eatonville and the Bunkhouse. After checking in with the Aid Station, you will return back and retrace your route towards the Start / Finish. You will NOT do the McGahey Canyon trail but straight out of the park like the other distances. This mostly follows 'The Interior' of the Park, and will offer the most runnable sections of any distance. If you wish to do more than The Arch and Back but don't want to complete a loop, this option is for you!
