My Story…
Last year, I started running on behalf of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) because of my grandmother's relentless battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. On May 5, 2024 (the same day I finished the Broad Street Run), my grandmother passed away. I know that she was guiding me across the finish line that day.
I started medical school last month, and as I tackle my coursework and train for the Philly marathon, I sometimes feel overwhelmed and anxious. What keeps me grounded is my "why" – running to progress cancer research and grow stronger mentally/physically, and learning to deepen my knowledge of cancer for the people and their loved/impacted ones who battle cancer like my 할머니 (ironically, we are covering cancer content right now in school). My 할머니 taught me how to be kind, generous, and selfless, and I hope to continue to embody these traits in my life and the future lives I hope to touch.
Thank you to my family, friends, colleagues, and mentors who have continued to support my running and medical school journey. You mean so much to me 💗.
