My Story…
I hate running. It makes my lungs hurt, I never get the "runner's high" so many people rave about, and my wife Laura always makes fun of how absurdly sweaty I get after just half a mile. Running is awful.
But I also love Camp Shalom.
I've done 5ks before, and I'm not very good at them (sub-30:00 is a win for me), but I figure if I'm going to punish myself like this, it ought to be for a good cause. So in September I'm running the QC Marathon 5K AND attempting to set a personal record by doing it in under 27 minutes, all in service of Camp Shalom.
For those who don't know, Camp Shalom is a Christian outdoor ministry that provides young people an opportunity to grow in relationship with God and each other out in nature, far away from screens, social media, and all the other distractions of everyday life. You can learn more about us here: www.campshalomia.org
We've got a great team of current and former staff who will be running for Shalom as well. Our team goal is to raise $10,000, and I'm on the hook for $750, so please help a guy out! Your support helps us serve more kids!
