Olive was born deceased, doctors and nurses tried to resuscitate her over 24 minutes to bring her back. Just as they were about to give up and had told her father to say goodbye…he took her hand and begged her to come back. Just then, Olive’s eyes opened, and she returned back to life. 

Olive is truly a ray of sunshine despite her diagnoses of Mixed Cerebral Palsy, HIE, and more recently, Uncontrolled Epilepsy. She has suffered from ~60 hybrid seizures over the last 14 months. Holding her while she seizes for 20+ minutes makes her mom feel helpless; after which Olive regularly looses her motor skills, such as eating, crawling, and speaking. She says, not hearing your child’s voice for 42 days, unsure if you’ll ever hear it again, is the definition of torture.

Doctors suspect Olive is refractory, meaning she is resistant to any seizure medication in existence. They also believe she has rare springing genetic variants, as she has capabilities that make her an anomaly amongst kids with CP. Because of such, Precision Medicine is stepping in, and they want to do a full exome mapping and will now have two neurology specialists on her case.

Her mother had to leave full time employment January 2023, in order to care for Olive’s growing complex medical needs, while her father deployed overseas for 6 months and now remains on active orders to ensure she has the medical care she needs.

Olive is also growing rapidly, and stands approximately 4’3” tall and is over 50 lbs. Her family needs help from the community to help make her an ADA compliant bathroom and modify the stairs to insert a lift. These combined modifications to make the home safer and more wheelchair compatible will run approximately $60,000.00.
