Black Bear Half Marathon and 8k

The Overall Male/Female winner of both the Half Marathon and the 8k receive one of these beautiful bears, carved by local chainsaw artist, Appalachian Chainsaw Carving!

IN-PERSON HALF MARATHON AWARDS

The Overall top 3 male/female, Overall top 1 Masters male/female, and first place age group winners will be awarded a GORGEOUS, locally made, custom Black Bear Half Marathon & 8k pottery mug! (2023 IMAGE SHOWN BELOW)

Fleet Feet Asheville will also provide Gift Certificates to the overall and masters winners of the Half Marathon.

2nd & 3rd Place Age Group winners will receive a locally made ceramic bear ornament!

  • 12 and under, 13 - 19, 20 - 24, 25 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69, 70 - 74, 75 - 79, 80 and up


IN-PERSON 8K AWARDS

We expect the 8k race to be very fast with some of the fastest times for this distance and lots of personal records (PR’s) for all runners of varying abilities. Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:


CASH PRIZES will go to the following finishers:

  • 1st place overall (male/female) - $100
  • 2nd place overall (male/female) - $75
  • 3rd place overall (male/female) - $50

Must be present at the awards ceremony to accept your cash prize!

Overall top 3 male/female, Overall top 1 Masters male/female and 1st place age group winners will also win a GORGEOUS, locally made, custom Black Bear Half Marathon & 8k pottery mug!

We will have an awards ceremony in Jackson Park for the Overall winners, near the finish line! Age group winners may pick up their awards at the iDaph Merchandise Tent at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Half-Marathon Awards: 11:30 AM
