My Story…
On August 10, 2022, my friend Susan Anderson gave me the gift of life through the selfless act of living organ donation. I had been diagnosed 15 years earlier with a rare autoimmune condition that affected my liver and was added to the transplant list when all other treatment options had been exhausted. Our surgeries took place at Toronto General Hospital, part of the University Health Network (UHN) and a global centre of excellence for transplant.
To celebrate the anniversary of Susan's gift and to kick off Living Donation Week we are running together with friends, family and those touched by transplant to promote awareness of organ donation and to raise funds for The Centre for Living Organ Donation at UHN.
The Centre for Living Organ Donation was created by UHN Transplant in 2018 to improve access to living organ donation for people who need a life-saving kidney or liver transplant and those who want to give a transformative gift of life.
