My Story…
Almost two years ago, I had some incredible luck.
When my dad needed a liver transplant, I learned I was a universal donor and a match for my dad. On August 15th, 2022, we did a living donor liver transplant. I was able to go on leave from work for almost 3 months for the surgery and recovery and it turned out exactly as I had hoped. My dad went from frequent naps, unable to stand up himself, to zipping around the ICU in a matter of days. And now, he’s set out to walk 5K in under an hour with his cane!
On September 8th we’ll be running / walking the Yorkville 5K to celebrate the second anniversary of our surgery, our “Liverversary”, in support of the Center for Living Organ Donation at the Amerja Transplant Center at UHN.
