Raise money for Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation

The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, was established to help ease the transition from military to civilian work for our Special Operations Community. We do this by providing scholarships for traditional education (undergraduate and graduate) and professional training/certifications.

The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is now into its second decade! We are proud to support our Special Operations professionals as they transition from military to civilian careers. To date, we have awarded 100 scholarships, including  17 new and 18 returning scholars this past year, but we need your support to continue our mission. Your donations directly support our Special Operators as they tackle new challenges, working on their education or professional training so they can succeed in new civilian careers. The cost of education and training continues to rise each year, and we are aiming to increase our scholarships to help ease the financial burden on our scholars, allowing them to focus on their studies, training and families, not their finances. Our reputation is growing within the Special Operations community as a reliable resource for our military personnel looking to make a career change.

With your contributions, we are able to help veterans like Colton Parsons. Colton was born and raised in Quakertown, PA and from a young age was attracted to becoming a Navy SEAL, especially after the events of 9/11. Following his senior year of high school, Colton enlisted in the Navy to pursue that dream. He completed Navy SEAL training and then completed special operation combat medic training. Colton became the lead medic for his East Coast platoon and deployed to East Africa twice.

Early in his first deployment, Colton learned that it was often his medical skills that resulted in the greatest impact on people’s lives. Realizing his love of medicine was growing, he completed his bachelor’s degree in emergency action and disaster response from George Washington University during deployments and training.

After 8 years in the SEAL teams, Colton decided to leave the military to start a family with his wife and pursue a medical career in the civilian world. He will be matriculating into the class of 2024 Physician Assistant Program at DeSales University to continue to serve people in need while supporting the community he lives in. His goal is to use medicine to build relationships, find the good in everyone, and possibly turn someone’s life around; things he also achieved with medicine on his deployments.

Colton is honored to be a Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation scholarship recipient and join this supportive community as he continues to transition out of the military. He aims to honor Glen by finding the good in everyone and being a lifelong leaner to be the best husband, father and Physician Assistant he can be.

Thank you for your consideration!  Your generosity will go right to work in helping our nation's military professionals transition to a new civilian careers and way of life.
