My Story…
As a volunteer at the Franklin Food Pantry (FFP) for more than 2 1/2 years, I have a new understanding of the food needs in Massachusetts. During the past 12 months, the FFP has experienced a 40% growth in the number of individuals needing assistance in obtaining food. Approximately 25% of these individuals are children and 22% are senior citizens the majority of whom live alone.
Some of the individuals we assist are veterans from years ago. Several individuals are disabled and face daily challenges, but they are determined to remain independent. The children who visit with a parent are always polite and are curious about visiting the Pantry. Those who have jobs still need assistance because they live within the poverty level. What all of them have in common is that they greatly appreciate the help provided by the Pantry.
In addition to volunteering, I have registered to run as a member of the FFP race team in the 7-mile Falmouth Road Race in August to raise funds. The donations will help to feed more people who lack sufficient funds to feed themselves and their families.
Any donation, regardless of the amount, will be greatly appreciated and will help to feed the needy.
Thank you.
