My Story…
Hello, everyone! I am reaching out to share a little bit about myself and my mission to make a difference through the Falmouth Road Race. Living on the South Shore, my career calling for education grew exponentially after I graduated college in 2010. Inspired from difficult prior life experiences, friends and family have reached out to me during their darkest moments looking for guidance, nurturing, and unbiased support. As I gained experience in the educational field, I have worked with the most unworkable youth where I continue to rebuild the trust, empathy, respect, and confidence in the youth I interact with.
Aside from education, I have always had a passion for running. Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and anxiety, managing my emotions, making decisions and prioritizing were challenging for me. Without knowing, running became my ultimate coping skill. It was not until recently that I realized its potential to impact lives beyond just my own. This year, I have committed myself to participate in the iconic Falmouth Road Race, not just as a personal challenge, but as an opportunity to raise funds for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
The Falmouth Road Race is not just a race; it is a community event that brings together runners from all walks of life to support local charities and organizations. This year, I am proud to run in support of The Home for Little Wanderers, an organization dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in need. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and provide them with the care, love, and opportunities they deserve. Your donation will help fund essential programs and services that support these children's physical, emotional, and educational needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, can have a profound impact on their future. Let us come together and create a brighter future for our youth!
Why is this cause important to me? Since graduating with my Masters in 2010, I have worked within the mental health field helping at risk youth with building independent life skills to figuring out how to regulate their emotions and develop pro-social skills while breaching their gaps within their social-emotional and educational needs. When joining the agency in 2014, first as a teacher's assistant and now licensed educator, I have witnessed countless success stories from the students and families that we service. I am honored to represent the special education teachers and staff of The COVE School in Plymouth, Massachusetts where the arduous work, comradery, and dedication from the adults continues to surprise me. If it were not for The Home for Little Wanderers, I would never have become a teacher and the person I am today. Today, I stand by the Homes’ side I an effort to always promote equity, inclusion, and individualized support so that every student, despite their ability, can reach their full potential and participate meaningfully within their community.
But I cannot do this alone. I need your help to make a meaningful impact. By supporting me in the Falmouth Road Race, you are not just supporting my journey as a runner, but you are also contributing to something much larger – a movement of compassion and generosity that has the power to transform lives.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Together, we can cross the finish line not only of the race but also of our fundraising goal, knowing that we have made a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for considering supporting me in this endeavor. Together, let us lace up our running shoes, hit the pavement, and make a difference one step at a time. Join me in supporting the Falmouth Road Race, and let us run for a cause worth believing in.
Warm regards,
Brittany
