Why this is important to me!
You personally know someone; we all do. Perhaps even multiple people come to mind. I'm talking about people in your life who have gotten the news of a cancer diagnosis. Maybe that person is even your own self. I personally have lost both my father and Uncle Kevin to cancer in recent years.
A positive cancer diagnosis is one of the scariest conversations one can have with his or her doctor due to the overwhelming wave of uncertainty of what the future holds. Is this treatable? What's the prognosis?
Luckily as medical technology and treatments progress many cancer diagnoses are becoming much more manageable. The caveat with many of these treatments is that the earlier the cancer is detected the better the prognosis.
That's why I am partnering with Team DetecTogether in order to bring fundraising and attention to early cancer detection. Their group makes sure that cancer can be found at the earliest stage possible, because the last thing someone wants to hear is, "if only this was found a little bit earlier".
So please consider donating to Team DetecTogether as I run the Falmouth Road Race in honor of both my father and Uncle Kevin.
Thank you!
Description
The worst cancer diagnosis is a late one. That's why support for DetecTogether is so crucial. They teach people how to detect cancer early when it’s most treatable and survivable.
40% of the population will face a cancer diagnosis. One of the most important factors in surviving cancer is the stage at which it is first detected. Early detection makes all the difference.
DetecTogether provides a simple, powerful strategy for detecting cancer early. They educate in schools, present to community groups, and reach out to those at high risk, such as firefighters, empowering people to achieve better healthcare overall.
Their life-saving presentations and information are delivered at no cost, thanks to the kindness and generosity of donors.
Consider supporting this cause. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against cancer.
