For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

The Dogs for Better Lives’ organization professionally trains dogs to help people and enhance lives. They maintain a lifelong commitment to all dogs they rescue or breed and the people they serve.

Certified professional staff train and place Service Dogs free of charge with deaf or hard-of-hearing adults, children diagnosed with autism, and licensed professionals working with vulnerable communities. This allows people with disabilities to lead safer and more independent lives.

Dog ownership is a huge part of mine and my husband's life. We can't imagine our days without them. The companionship and unconditional love that comes with raising a dog is something we truly cherish.

Early on in my career I was fortunate enough to teach in a learning center for children with autism. Having the opportunity to impact the lives of children with unique learning requirements was a very rewarding experience.

I was thrilled when I learned of the Dogs for Better Lives organization.

Supporting this cause truly encompassed values that hit close to home; serving our communities, and recognizing the value and impact dogs can have on our lives.

Description

Dogs for Better Lives trains and places Assistance Dogs free of charge with deaf or hard-of-hearing adults, children diagnosed with autism, and licensed professionals working with vulnerable communities so people with disabilities can lead safer and more independent lives. Our Northeast Training Campus opened in 2022 in Falmouth, and we're very excited to have a team of runners in the 52nd Falmouth Road Race, for a third year!

The average cost to train a service dog is $54,000 but we place our dogs at zero cost to our clients. Every dollar you raise for Dogs for Better Lives will go programmatic expenses.
