Help Sarah raise money

For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

In 2016 my oldest brother, Ben, suffered from a lack of oxygen to the brain resulting in a severe brain injury.   We knew there would be challenges for him down the road, but we didn't realize that his injury would impact my family's lives indefinitely.

For 7 years, Ben lived at home with our family - my parents taking on the responsibility of being around-the-clock caregivers.  In addition to my parents, we were fortunate to have some of the best people work for Ben as caregivers.  Not only did they provide excellent care and some respite for our family, but they also have become some of the most significant people (and friends!) in Ben's life.

In January of 2023, Ben was accepted to a full-time care facility where he gets excellent therapy and programming.  Luckily, his wonderful team of nurses love his sense of humor and stubbornness!  We recently found out Ben has been approved to be placed in a group home closer to our side of the state, and we are thrilled about this next step in Ben gaining back some independence.

Needless to say, this has been quite a journey for our family, and I am so grateful to all our friends and extended family who have provided support over the last 8 years.   The Brain Injury Association of MA has provided the resources and education necessary for my family to navigate things like finding caregivers, the right care facility, and the benefits that Ben is eligible for.

I greatly appreciate your support for an organization that has educated so many families going through something similar to mine.

Thank you!
