I am excited to be running the 2024 Falmouth Road Race in support of the Laurie Melchionda Foundation!

LMF is a cause that is dear to my heart.  Started by some close friends, the Foundation was created as a legacy to Laurie, who was sadly killed in her home in 2020.  As an active nurse, Laurie was a champion and advocate for her community and family and the Foundation's mission is to spread “Laurie’s Love of Life” and continue her efforts of giving back.  LMF's impact includes the Annual Laurie Melchionda Scholarship at UMass Boston, her alma mater, providing support to one or more undergraduate student(s) in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences who have unmet financial need.

Please help me support LMF by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. My goal is to raise $2,500 and with your support, I am confident that I can blow that goal out of the water!

A detailed description of our efforts below:

"Money raised during the Falmouth road race will be used to support one of the core pillars in our mission statement, education. The Laurie Melchionda Scholarship was established in 2022 at her alma mater, UMass Boston. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support to one or more undergraduate and/or graduate student(s) in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences who have unmet financial need. Preference will be given to students who are returning to their education after a cumulative gap of two or more years in higher education, making a career change to nursing, and/or are seeking a graduate degree to advance their nursing career.

The scholarship is a perpetual tribute to Laurie’s devotion to her community and the children for whom she cared at Boston Children’s Hospital, in the Braintree and Weston Public school systems, and as a member of the Braintree and Weston Board of Health.  It is a testament to a working mom and the values she instilled in pursuing higher education. 

It is with your donations that we will be able to continue lending aid to future Melchionda Scholars. We thank you immensely for your support!"
