I am so excited to announce I will be running the Falmouth Road Race on August 18th for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism in partnership with ARTS AND REC, LLC. I am currently a facilitator and social media manager at ARTS AND REC, LLC. I teach dance, digital art, drawing, multimedia art, and painting to individuals with disabilities. I am so excited to support ARTS AND REC in making our classes and programs more accessible to all!
Your generous support will enable us to continue to offer engaging classes and programs for all our individuals and continue to grow within our community. All funds go to lowering financial barriers to participants in need, allowing all to have a chance to be creative and express themselves. By donating to ARTS AND REC you are giving the participants the opportunity to meet their desire goals in leisure, health and wellbeing. You are also helping us to show how art and being creative is a life long journey. Our classes address goals related to communication, social, cognitive and motor skills. By meeting these goals they not only enrich their lives but also the whole community. Join us in our mission to help these individuals to use art to create their own wellbeing.
Description
Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started the Doug Flutie, Jr. Flutie Foundation for Autism in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey. Over its 25-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $14 million to schools and organizations that provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job supports and more for people affected by autism.
The Flutie Foundation also provides education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, and direct family support through its special programs. The Flutie Foundation’s newest initiative, Flutie Spectrum Enterprises, will help create businesses to employ adults with autism.
