My Story…
10 years ago I lost a close friend, Sam Berns, due to a rare genetic disease called Progeria. He forever changed my life and I am lucky to have gotten to know such a special person. I am grateful for all the memories, such as marrying him in the Q and U wedding in kindergarten (photo above), all band rehearsals, friend hangouts, & endless classes together. Even a decade later, his outlook on life has left a profound impact with me.
I am honored to run the 7 mile course this August in the Falmouth Road Race to honor Sam. This is my second time running this race, so I would love any & all support that I can get! Together we can make a difference to continue to spread awareness about the disease, move the research & science forward, and honor Sam's legacy.
For those of you who didn't get to know Sam personally, I strongly encourage you to watch his TedTalk (with over 53 million views!). You'll see just how special he was. The TedTalk is titled “My philosophy for a happy life- Sam Berns.”
Thank you very much for supporting!
Love,
Meg
