I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!

Hello everyone,

I will be lacing up my running shoes on August 18th to run to help end Alzheimer’s. Running has been my passion outside of the hockey rink and now I even have a bigger passion to run for, to help end this horrible disease in honor of my grandmother. For over a decade, my grandmother has faced the challenges this disease has given and taken away. Alzheimer’s has stolen away her personality and from what everyone knew her by, as well as memories and sentimental moments. With every stride, I am reminded of the countless moments her and I got to experience with one another, no matter how big or how small, from watching my hockey games to having her move in next door. No disease can take those memories her and I have together, they are not erasable.

As I am training for this race, I am fueled by a sense of purpose greater than myself. I am not running for personal running times or to be a champion, but to spread awareness and support for all of those affected by Alzheimer’s-especially for my grandmother Irene.

I am grateful for this opportunity to represent and honor someone I love by doing something I love, running. After I cross the finish line, I am determined to help spread more awareness and to continue fighting for a future where Alzheimer’s no longer holds the impact of forgotten memories and loved one’s.

I love you, Grammy.
