For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!

On August 18th I will be running in the 2024 Falmouth Road Race for Team End ALZ in support of my grandmother and the 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s Disease. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2014, and passed away on January 16th, 2023. Something that she would say is “It’s not that I don’t care, because I do, it’s just that I don’t remember these things”. Although Alzheimer’s took away her memory, it allowed her to re-experience happy moments and stories as if it were her first time. When I first ran for Team End ALZ in 2021, my grandma had the same genuine heartfelt reactions every time I told my her that I had raised $1,355 in her name. Before my race in 2021, she wrote me a note saying “The best tomorrow. I have you in my heart- best- I’ll think of you. Love, love- Grandma.” I sealed this note and taped it to the inside of my bib on the day of the race in 2021. In 2023, I again taped her note to the inside of my bib and wished more than anything that I could sit next to her just one more time to tell her that I was running for her and that I had raised $4,000 in her name. Witnessing her cognitive and physical declines as the disease progressed has put me on a mission to raise funds and awareness to help end Alzheimer’s. This year as a charity runner is especially important to me, and any donation to my fundraising page will help and will make a difference.
