I'm running the 52nd ASICS Falmouth Road Race for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation
Eight years earlier….. I am running for the Joe Andruzzi foundation in memory of my Uncle Kenny. He was an amazing Papa, Dad, Husband, Brother, Uncle, friend and boss…. He gave so much of himself to the community and fire house I want to make sure his name is still spoken. I want to pay it forward to keep his memory alive!
Eight years later….. I started my 2023 Falmouth road race journey with JAF, running in memory of my Uncle and to honor my Nonnie, little did I know what that summer would bring me….. July 3rd my life got flipped upside down! July 3rd I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer…. That run was to prove I was strong enough to fight, having started chemo right before the run!
This year will be my 8th year taking on the 7 miles as part of the Joe Andruzzi foundation. This year will be my first run since chemo and a double mastectomy. This will be my comeback is stronger than the setback run…. This is my GIVE YOURSELF GRACE ERA!!!
This run is to as always in my memory of my Uncle but this run is to honor the many people who are in the fight or were in the fight….. I am dedicating this run to my friends in particular, Meghan, Tina, Donna, Jenny, Dawn, & Carrie & Nancy and specially Susan! Thank you ladies for inspiring me to see the world differently and to be a warrior…..

JAF is committed to providing assistance to patients of all ages, any cancer, throughout New England who are struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis. JAF understands that everyday living expenses don’t stop because of a diagnosis, and JAF provides various programs to help patients make ends meet. Because patients and families must often devote all their energy and resources toward treatment, the Foundation helps alleviate financial and emotional stress by providing grants to assist with rent/mortgage, transportation to treatment, food, and more. Through our Assistance Programs and Wellness Assistance, the grant recipients can focus on their cancer treatment and not the financial distress that comes with it.
