Help Julia raise money

I first learned about ALS in 2006 when my future mother in-law's mysterious symptoms led to her ALS diagnosis.  I think Brian and my's naivety at the time was a blessing of what this horrible disease entails.  Witnessing what Brian and his family went through with their mother was courageous and horrific at the same time.  Sadly, Rosemary lost her battle with ALS in 2008.

There has been a lot of research into ALS since 2008 but not enough.  A few years back our local brewery was promoting a beer to support ALS research.  My family and I went there to give our support and I ran into someone I knew from the gym and our kids school, Caitlin Dotolo.  Unfortunately the first connection Cait and I had to each other was ALS. Her mother was in the early stages of the disease and their family was at the brewery that night for the same reason.  Since then our friendship has strengthened but Cait's mother unfortunately lost her battle to ALS.

I have been amazed at what Cait and her friends and family have done with Grannie's Gang and ALS One.  A few weeks back Cait mentioned she could get me a bib for the Falmouth Road Race as part of Grannie's Gang.  I think I looked at her like she was crazy because of all of the excuses I had for why I was a "former runner."  A few days went by and the more I thought about the race, the more I realized that this wasn't about me.  This was about raising money for a horrible disease and moving my body for those who are unable to.  So even if I have to crawl to that finish line it doesn't matter.  ALS sucks and I hope to help fund research to end this horrible disease.
