My Story…
This is my fourth year running the Falmouth Road Race for Hospitality Homes, an organization I have been involved with for well over a decade and which provides housing to families and patients who travel to Boston to seek medical care. What makes my training journey a bit different this year compared to the recent past is that I have struggled with injuries as my age starts to catch up with me. I was fortunate to find a physical therapist and trainer this spring and early summer, and I have been able to work my way back to full strength. In addition to reminding me of my age, this experience serves as yet another reminder of why I run for Hospitality Homes. I am so fortunate to live so close to world renowned medical centers, and to have access to some of the best healthcare services available. My involvement with Hospitality Homes helps me, in a way, to share this privilege with others. I'm so proud to be a member of TEAM HOSPITALITY HOMES in this year's Falmouth Road Race!
Your support means the world to me and will help continue to provide housing for patients and families traveling to Boston for critical medical treatment.
With the prohibitively expensive costs of local hotels- averaging $260 per night- and the lack of sufficient hospital- sponsored housing, many patients struggle with what to do, balancing these and other out-of-pocket expenses with the already high cost of responding to a complex or chronic illness.
