Help me fight Period Poverty with Dignity Matters!
I grew up watching my parents, aunts, and uncles run the Falmouth Road Race for many years. While eating ice cream and cheering them on was great, it's even better to now be running Falmouth for my fourth year in a row for an incredible cause - Dignity Matters.
My mom is helping me fundraise for Dignity Matters to help end Period Poverty for homeless and low-income women. Dignity Matters is the largest non-profit in Massachusetts dedicated to helping women and girls manage their period with dignity. We provide free menstrual care and undergarments to 16,000 people every month through a network of 175 shelters, food pantries, schools and clinics.
Any and all donations to my run go directly to Dignity Matters and have a huge impact. Thank you in advance for your support!
Description
I am running the 2024 Falmouth Road Race, and I'm raising funds for Dignity Matters so women and girls living in poverty can safely manage their periods. Every $50 you give helps a woman live with dignity for a year!
Did you know you can't purchase pads or tampons with SNAP/Food Stamps or WIC?
In fact, there's NO state or federal programs that help women and girls in Massachusetts buy menstrual care. Menstrual care is expensive and rarely donated, so thousands face a difficult choice: use unhygienic alternatives like rags and toilet paper, or stay home and miss out on school, work, and life.
Dignity Matters is the largest nonprofit provider of free menstrual care and undergarments in Massachusetts. They help 15,000 women manage their period with dignity every month, and are the only source of menstrual care for most of those women.
Lack of access to menstrual care is a “deal breaker:" regardless of the other resources available to them, women and girls cannot stay healthy, work or attend school without reliable access to menstrual care.
Dignity Matters gives women the dignity of choosing the type of menstrual care and undergarments that they are comfortable using, and they make a 12-month commitment so women know they can count on them for these products every time they need them.
Dignity Matters supports women and girls through four programs:
Dignity at Schools provides menstrual products, underwear, and bras to students at public middle and high schools and after-school programs in Massachusetts.
Dignity on Campus provides menstrual care and underwear to students facing poverty at community colleges and state universities in MA.
Dignity at Shelters provides menstrual care, bras and underwear to women at homeless and domestic violence shelters, low-income housing and community centers, and emergency family centers.
Dignity in the Community delivers menstrual care and incontinence underwear to women and girls through 42 food pantries and medical centers in Massachusetts.
Dignity Matters uses a manufacturing contract to buy menstrual care and underwear at wholesale prices - so they stretch your donation to help as many women as possible every month. Every $50 you give helps a woman manage her period with dignity for a year!
