My Story…
Over 6 years ago, I had just celebrated one year of recovery when I joined the WellStrong community. I had been living one day at a time and struggling to make connections, find a purpose, and a reason to take care of myself. Really, I was feeling lost and alone.
I decided to try a yoga class WellStrong offered that connected mind, body, and soul. Between attending these sessions weekly and through encouragement from staff, I not only signed up for a triathlon, but the Falmouth Road Race and a Ragnar race with in one year of being a member. These events pushed my physical limits, and in doing so without realizing had helped clear my mind. I did find deeper connection with people and suddenly my life had purpose and meaning again. I became a trusted son and a brother again, a good friend, a valued employee, and active member of society.
Since then I have had the opportunity to grow within the WellStrong community. Being able to give back to people in recovery has been the greatest gift I have received from WellStrong. This year I have had the opportunity to help organize and recruit runners for the Falmouth Road Race.
I am proud of the strides my life has taken since making the decision to turn away from drugs and alcohol. I am proud to be a part of an organization such a WellStrong, where there is a loving and supportive community available to any and all who need help. Unfortunately, there are many people still sick and suffering, dying alone and in silence. If you can donate to this amazing non-profit you would be directly impacting the lives of people both in recovery as well as people in need of recovery. You could help give someone their child, friend, sibling, or parent back. The greatest gift is to be given a second chance at a new life
