Welcome to my 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race Page!
Hello everyone:
I am running in the 2024 Falmouth Road Race to raise funds for the the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).
For over 30 years. I have lost immediate family and close friends to various forms of cancer. This year's focus is my sister, Deborah Whalen Sheehan. Aunt Debby, as she is affectionately known to so many people, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in September 2015. She fought bravely and never complained, enduring many forms of treatment, for almost 8 years! Debby passed away in July 2023.
The back story here begins in December 1994 when an aggressive lung cancer took my wife Anne in less than six months at age 42. Our four daughters were 11, 11, 11, and 7 years of age. Aunt Debby stepped in to fill the void and the results are demonstrated in the photo on this page (dated 2013). The girls are now fully grown and have given me eight (8) grandchildren. I look back across the years and I shake my head. I could not have done it without all the love and support given so freely by our extended family and friends (too many to list here).
My daughters founded "Team I-Mom" to participate in the annual Lungevity Foundation 5K, as well as the BAA 10K to support the Dana Farber - BWH.
Please consider a donation to the NBTS in Debby's memory to help fund research in the fight against glioblastoma and other brain cancers. (Sources and amounts can remain anonymous at the discretion of the donor.)
This one's for you, Debby !!!!
Thank you.
Tom. (August 2024)
