Why I run for Team Brittany Fund
Description
The Brittany Fund for Trauma and Recovery was created in 2013 in the wake of the Boston Marathon Bombing by survivor Brittany Loring. The Brittany Fund provides support to promote health and well-being for families and individuals affected by traumatic events such as natural disasters, car accidents, and acts of terror. Funds provided seek to serve the physical and mental needs of trauma survivors.
Beneficiaries have been injured in car accidents, as pedestrians crossing the street, from falling trees, surfing and diving accidents, fires, etc. and have used the funds to make their home accessible post-injury (for example, to put in ramps or widen spaces for wheel chairs), to pay for co-pays and other therapies and medical equipment that is not covered by insurance, and to help with lost wages of the individual and caregiver (i.e. to pay for basic life needs like rent, food, and utilities).
The Brittany Fund is a fund under the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, a registered 501(c)(3). All donations made to The Brittany Fund are tax-deductible.
