Buckeye Moon Trail Runs

We love trail running! 2024 marks our 20th year of organizing trail runs and our goal is to continue to build and grow the trail running community in Ohio! To celebrate all distances are only $20 until August 1!

Your entry fee includes electronic chip timing via MyLaps, commemorative finishers medal, award eligibility for top finishers, and post-event spread. Shirts are an optional purchase.

On Saturday evening, August 10 are the Buckeye Moon Trail Runs (formerly the Red Moon Trail Runs) at Alum Creek State Park in Galena, Ohio.

The Buckeye Moon Trail Runs bring you a unique night event for all trail lovers! With multiple distances to choose from, a great finisher amenity, awesome race shirts that you’ll want to wear, and a cool experience of a night run in the woods and along Alum Creek Reservoir this is a trail run you don't want to miss out on!

Distances available:

• 7K (4.167M)
• 13K (8.167M)
• 20K (12.167M) and
• 26K (16.167M)

COURSE

This loop course is moderately rolling, trail that runs that features a gorgeous nighttime view of Alum Creek Reservoir. The course will be marked with small LED lights along the way to assist you in trail navigation. The race is composed of a ~ 4.167-mile trail course with trail runners able to choose 1, 2, 3 or 4 lap options.

Headlamps or a running light is required.

If you are choosing the multiple lap option, each lap you will pass by the Celebration Area to cheers from earlier finishers and spectators.

13K = 2 loops
20k = 3 loops
26k = 4 loops Time limit: 26K = 4:30 hours

* Note- All other distances have at least the time limit listed above.

Rucking Information

• Distances - rucking category is available for all distances except the 26K
• Ruck weight minimums: Under 150 lbs.- 15lbs+ and if body weight Over 150 lbs. - 30lbs+
• Ruck for each distance will start according to each distance start listed in the schedule.

EVENT SHIRT

Event shirts are an optional purchase item during registration. Shirts are great fitting soft Tri-Blend (Red or Black depending on color availability) custom event shirt.

AWARDS

All finishers will receive a commemorative finishers medal.

The Top 3 OVERALL male and female finisher for each distance will receive an award to commemorate their finish.

PARKING

There is ample parking at the Galena Boat Ramp off Africa Rd. Please park in designated area in parking lot. Do not park in the grass or along the road.
