Horsham Dog Obedience Club are about promoting responsible dog ownership in the Wimmera. We use gentle training methods only and train most Sunday mornings starting late February and finishing at the end of November.
All new members will start in beginners class regardless of dogs age and experience and will graduate to the higher levels as basic skills have been mastered.
During the warmer months, Beginners class will start at 9:00am and run for 30minutes. Classes 1-4 start at 9:45am and run for approximately 45-60minutes.
Once the weather cools down, classes will run at 9:30am for beginners, and 10:15am for Classes 1-4.
You will be notified in your Welcome email upon successful registration which class time is applicable for you. You will be notified of any changes to class times throughout the year via email and on our members only Facebook page.
We ask all members to arrive 10 minutes prior to your class start time so you can check in and find a space on the oval before class starts. You will need to sign in to the HDOC membership attendance log book upon arrival. Instructors will not delay class start times if anyone is running late.
We also ask our Class 1-4 members to not come onto the oval more than 10 minutes before your class start time to allow beginners to safely leave the grounds and not have too many dogs gathered at the entrance.
All classes run at Haven Recreation Reserve, 4378 Henty Highway, Haven. New members are always welcome.
Please note, our club is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and we will not tolerate abuse of any kind.
All new members MUST watch a short introduction video BEFORE attending classes. The video will be provided once your membership is processed.
Before joining please read the following rules and policies:
- HDOC Code of Conduct, Training Rules and Image Release
- HDOC Social Media and Internet Policy
- HDOC Rules of the Association
- HDOC Behaviour and Incident Reporting Policy
These policies are available from the Membership page of our website.
Memberships are available for individuals or dual membership.
- Individual memberships are open to single handlers with one or more dogs.
- Dual membership allows 2 handlers to train a single dog.
Note: Dual handler memberships can not register multiple dogs. If as a partnership you wish to train multiple dogs, you must sign up as individual members, with dog/dogs assigned to each of you separately.
Membership is available to people 12 years or older however if under the age of 18 are considered to be associate members and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
A valid dog vaccination certificate (C5 or equivalent which includes kennel cough) must be provided via email to hdoc@live.com.au every year. You can scan or photograph this but it MUST be emailed so that we can keep a copy. Your dog will not be allowed to train until this has been sighted.
If you are a returning member please still press the green "continue" button and create a new registration for 2024.
