Highland Trail Running's first race in the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series will be hosted at Keppoch Mountain in Antigonish County for the 2024 season.
Centrally located to bring out the best from the Mainland, Cape Breton Island, New Brunswick and PEI to battle it out in the Highland Heart of Nova Scotia. 2 distances to choose from, 8.5km Dion Point Series race with medals for the top 3 overall along with top master for both Male and Female, Or a 4km challenge (No series Points) with medals for top 3 overall and the top master for both Male and Female. Course has a nice mix of wide double track along with some tighter single track with various elevation changes. In the event mother nature takes away our snow the race will proceed as a trail race on the West side of the mountain with 12 and 6km options with points still being awarded towards the 12km trail race.
Thanks to the Keppoch for offering their beautiful lodge for registration along with post award ceremony afterwards. Join us in the lodge for a hot beverage and munchies next to the fireplace. Snowshoe rentals are available at a discounted rate courtesy of the Keppoch, and can be added to your registration while supplies last. A portion of our proceeds will be going to Keppoch Mountain who work tirelessly to build and maintain over 40kms of non-motorized, multi-use wilderness trails. We encourage you to stay for the day and come explore all that Keppoch has to offer.
This will be a manually timed event with generous cutoff times to encourage all skill levels to come out. All participants will receive entry into a raffle for a pair of Dion 122CA Snowshoes with secure fit bindings and ice cleats courtesy of Spafford Health and Adventure ,along with multiple other giveaways thanks to our partners.
No dogs are allowed on the course during the race, but are more than welcome at the Start/Finish line.
**We will be granting refunds and deferrals for this event up to March 1st. Shoot us an email and we will do our best to make the process as easy and tidy as possible. Registrations can also be transferred to another person up till March 7th through Race Roster for $1.95 plus the processing fee.**
**In the event of a crazy storm we will be working on a make-up date TBD, Our #1 priority will be the safety of our participants. If you cannot make the alternative date we will provide a 100% refund**

Wicked Awesome Volunteer Closed
Ideal candidates are available for 5hr shifts. Come enjoy a morning with huge energy. All volunteers will be entered into various raffle prizes, courtesy of our partners. Duties and responsibilities will be set up/tear down, food and beverages, time keepers, course marshal, photographers, cross guards and overall vibe champions. All volunteers will receive free entry for themselves into another Highland Trail Running event of their choice.
