My Story…
Last June, our family lost our matriarch, our Queen Jean.
When we were made aware that dialysis was no longer working, Grandma’s medical team had advised us that her passing would not be long. Up to this point, dialysis treatments 3 times a week for the past 3 ½ years had been part of her life. Essentially, she couldn’t survive without the treatments.
We were so blessed that in a time of uncertainty and sorrow, Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth opened its doors to us to help us say goodbye.
Grandma’s stay was only 6 days, but in that time we grew to understand the purpose and importance of hospice with our first time experience. The calming facility, coupled with the kindness shown left a tremendous impact on all of us.
To honor Grandma’s memory, and to ensure more families have access to this vital community resource, our family will be participating in Hike for Hospice this June. Grandma taught us to be kind, thoughtful and giving. What better way to carry on her legacy.
