2024 RUN OFF-THE-GRID
Are you ready to break away from the Grid?
Come be a part of one of Northern Ontario’s longest, toughest, and most remote trail runs! Enjoy breathtaking scenery of the Laurentian Mountains in the peak of the autumn colours. There are no roads and no pavement. The course is 100% trail and completely remote. It is you, your footsteps and the quiet of the wilderness.
The course is a 12.5 km loop with a mix of terrain from various single track sections, old forest logging roads, rolling hills, super steep hills, fast flatter sections, technical rocky sections, creek crossings, our famous mud bog and a gravel pit with a sand dune to slide down. Each additional loop is completed in the opposite direction, which makes it feel like a 25 km loop….plus everyone loves the community feeling of the lapping runners cheering each other on.
Hike option available for the 12.5 km and 25 km.
What does the Run Off-the-Grid Support?
- Local food bank – we feel it is important to give back to our local community and $5 from each registration is donated to our local Mattawa Food Bank.
- Soles4Souls – we have partnered with Bioped Footcare (North Bay) to collect used shoes for Soles4Souls, which is an organization that turns unwanted shoes into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty. A large collection bin will be available on site at the central grounds. We want to see this bin overflowing with footwear.
- Nature’s Harmony Ecolodge – remaining proceeds from this event are invested back into Nature’s Harmony to further our vision of connecting people with nature, promoting sustainable practices, as well as, ongoing product and programming development. The next big vision for Nature's Harmony is to develop an EcoVillage / Intentional Community. The EcoVillage will provide an opportunity for individuals and families to live in community, to cultivate a healthy, balanced and sustainable lifestyle, as well as, creating an education and healing centre to expand our reach to others. We believe in community as a healthy living model and a means to increase the potential for positive impact in our world. We have been creating little ripples of change over the years and we are hoping to create even larger waves of change as we move forward in community.
Post Race Meal
A hearty post-race meal is served up by gd2go catering. Our guests have always enjoyed a warm post-race meal with an option of either: harvest chicken stew or lentil curried soup with buns, pasta salad, and a leaf salad. Vegan and gluten-free options are available.
We have decided to continue offering a post-race meal as we are a remote destination and the majority of our guests are traveling from out of town so there is a nice community vibe when everyone sticks around to enjoy a meal together. We also manage the waste as everyone is required to bring their own dishes and cutlery. The race registration fees are reflective of the rising catering prices.
If required, additional meal tickets for supporting family members and friends can be purchased in your registration.
