About Our Mission
Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2011 with the aim of providing support and assistance to survivors of sexual violence in Grant and Hidalgo Counties, located in the southwest region of New Mexico. Our organization offers a range of services to survivors and their families, including case management, crisis intervention, community education and awareness, counseling, forensic interviewing and accompaniment for both the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) exam and legal proceedings.
At Silver Regional SASS, we understand the importance of providing comprehensive support to survivors of sexual violence. Our case management services ensure that survivors receive personalized assistance and guidance throughout their healing journey. We work closely with survivors to identify their needs and connect them with appropriate resources, such as medical care, therapy, and legal support.
In times of crisis, our crisis intervention services are available to provide immediate support and assistance. Our trained staff and volunteers are on call 24/7 to respond to survivors' needs, offering a compassionate ear, safety planning, and information about their rights and options.
Community education and awareness are key components of our work at SRSASS. We believe that by raising awareness about sexual violence and promoting healthy relationships, we can prevent future incidents and create a safer community. We offer educational programs and workshops to schools, community organizations, and businesses, covering topics such as consent, bystander intervention, and the effects of trauma.
Counseling services are an integral part of our support system for survivors. Our licensed therapists provide individual and group counseling, creating a safe and confidential space for survivors to process their experiences, heal, and rebuild their lives. We offer trauma-informed therapy modalities that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each survivor.
In addition to our direct services, SRSASS also provides accompaniment services for survivors during the SANE exam and legal proceedings. We understand that these processes can be overwhelming and intimidating, and our trained advocates are there to provide emotional support, explain the procedures, and ensure that survivors' voices are heard and respected.
Our Child Advocacy Center comprises of a forensic interviewer and a child advocate. Forensic interviewing is a term used to describe a child-centered and non-leading conversation with a child about any possible traumatic events they may have witnessed or experienced. These recorded interviews assist law enforcement and the judicial system with criminal charges and help establish the safety and overall well-being of the child.
Donations play a vital role in enabling us to continue providing these essential services to survivors and their families. The funds we receive go towards assisting survivors in the communities we serve, as well as supporting our NEW Developing Child Advocacy Center. The Child Advocacy Center provides specialized services for child survivors of sexual violence, physical abuse, and/or witnesses to a crime, ensuring they receive the specific support they need.
The donations we receive are used to support survivors, children, and their families in various ways. This includes providing financial assistance for rent, deposits, past due utility bills, and vehicle repairs and maintenance. We also offer assistance with transportation and emergency housing to ensure survivors have a safe and stable environment during their healing process.
By donating to Silver Regional SASS you are directly contributing to the well-being and recovery of survivors of sexual violence. Your support helps us make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by this traumatic experience. Together, we can create a community that supports and empowers survivors and works towards ending sexual violence.
