I’ve worked at the Y for over 20 years, starting out in YMCA camps, and I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing it can be—kids and teens finding their confidence, making friends, and knowing they belong.

Now, as a new parent, I appreciate even more how Y Camp experiences, and other Y programs, offer that sense of belonging every child needs, along with shared experiences between children from all walks of life. It’s incredible how these programs help foster our young people’s sense of responsibility and inclusion. The fact that Y programs revolve around physical activity makes it even more important—promoting health, courage, and both physical and emotional well-being.
