I always thought that once a cancer patient rang the bell, that was the end of the journey. Then I became that cancer patient. I didn’t know. 

For me, my diagnosis came just a few weeks after my 40th birthday. My primary doctor had scheduled me for a mammogram following my milestone birthday. Thankfully I turned 40 and had that appointment because I had an invasive breast cancer that was moderately growing with no symptoms. 

Early in my journey, my nurse connected me to Faith Through Fire. The resources provided by Faith Through Fire had a huge impact on my emotional wellbeing in my cancer journey. Having a mentor to cheer me on, a podcast with real talk about how to navigate this diagnosis, a respite house that provided my family a much needed break and a community of survivors is invaluable. Cancer is just as much as an emotional battle as physical. 

So thankful to Faith Through Fire for carrying me through my diagnosis and walking beside me in survivorship!
